Kidz Privacy

This site is full of resources for kids, parents, and teachers. It also contains information from the FTC regarding privacy issues and many safety tips. The parents section has a checklist that has 5 easy tips for parents to decide whether or not they want their children to visit a particular website. The kids section includes a brief description of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and 10 things that children should know about protecting their own privacy while online. The teachers section of the website includes information from the FTC regarding children’s privacy, how to comply with the COPPA, and a more detailed explanation of the COPPA. I would use this information in my classroom to stress the importance of online safety to my students. The 10 things the children should know would be a good print-out to hang by the computer area. The resources are also things that I could share with parents. I don’t think there is a way to assess student learning with this site.
