Privacy Playground: The First Adventure of the Three CyberPigs

  • The purpose of the game is to teach kids ages 8-10 how to spot online marketing strategies, protect their personal information and avoid online predators. In this game the CyberPigs play on their favorite Web site and encounter marketing ploys, spam and a close encounter with a not-too-friendly wolf. There is also a Teacher's Guide that explains how to play the game, gives background information on the issues of online marketing, spam and children's privacy and provides activities and handouts for classroom use.

  • This game can be used in the classroom as a fun way to teach your students how to protect themselves on the net. Student will develop an awareness of the methods used by marketer to elicit personal information from children on the internet and the strategies marketers use to engage children online. They will also gain an understanding of the commercial nature of the internet and the need to protect personal privacy on the internet, both from a marketing and a safety perspective.
  • The Teacher’s Guide offers post-game discussion questions that you could go over with your students to assess what all they have learned.
